People Program Art Exhibition of Louisiana Nature! People Program NOLA provides seniors with creative ways to stay active and connected at the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center.

“Risen” sits 22 ft tall on Read Blvd. and honors the lives of Carol Denise McNair, Cynthia Wesley, Addie Mae Collins, and Carole Robertson—the four young girls killed in the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham.

The Annual NOLA East Festival is an opportunity to share fun, entertainment, good food, dancing, and various activities with the community in Joe W. Brown Park.

The Krewe of Nefertiti has paraded in New Orleans East for 6 years. Their vibrant display of costumes and favors are enjoyed by many spectators from all over the city.

The Audubon Louisiana Nature Center on Lake Forest Blvd. has a Planetarium and Interpretive Center offering educational programs on nature, wildlife, and movies about the solar system. Several walking trails offer more explorations and sightings for snakes, alligators, insects, birds, and more. The nature center has been in the New Orleans East community for almost 50 years!
